Additional Trademarks

MADDI® / askMADDI

The MADDI wordmark should always appear capitalized, and the font/typeface should follow the guidelines defined in the Typography section.

The askMADDI wordmark comprises the word “ask” and the MADDI wordmark. The “ask” portion should always appear italicized and lowercase except when it is the first word of a sentence or in context with other capitalized words (such as headlines or program names). Refrain from adding a space or other characters between the two components of the wordmark. It’s always askMADDI, never ask MADDI or ask Maddi.

Placement of the Trademark Designation
When appropriate, the ® designation in MADDI should be placed immediately following the mark. The norm is to place the symbol in superscript in the upper-right-hand corner or, in some cases, in subscript in the lower right-hand corner.

Always acknowledge ownership of the MADDI trademark by adding the registered symbol ® following the wordmark.

Using a trademark symbol in the first prominent mention of a trademark (e.g., in a heading) is more important than repeated use throughout a brochure or web page. The symbol does not have to be used every time the mark is used. Instead, use the symbol in the first instance the mark is used, in the most prominent use of the mark, or both. Repeated use of trademark symbols can become cluttered.

Print Materials
If the print materials consist of 1–2 pages, designation in the first instance of the mark is sufficient. For longer materials, it is recommended that the designation be used at least once per page in which the mark appears. A good way to achieve this is to place the designation anywhere there is a static representation of the mark duplicated on each page, such as in a header or footer.

Digital Content
For digital content, the ® designation should appear in the first instance of the mark. If the mark is used on multiple pages, include a trademark footnote to give notice of Aderant ownership of the mark.

General Considerations

  1. Acknowledgment: Always acknowledge the ownership of the trademark. Use symbols like ® for registered trademarks and ™ for unregistered trademarks.
  2. Correct Spelling and Formatting: Use the trademark exactly as registered, including correct spelling, capitalization, and any special characters. Avoid altering the wordmark in any way that could cause confusion.
  3. Distinctiveness: Ensure the trademark stands out from surrounding text or graphics. It can be achieved by using distinct typography, color, or placement.
  4. Consistent Use: Use the trademark consistently throughout your materials. Don’t switch between different versions or variations unless authorized by the trademark owner.
  5. No Generic Use: Avoid using the trademark as a generic term for a product or service. It should always be used as an identifier of a specific brand or source.
  6. Proper Attribution: If using the trademark in a publication or advertisement, include a notice acknowledging Aderant’s rights to the trademark. Include a trademark footnote to give notice that you are using Aderant’s trademarks, e.g., “MADDI is a registered trademark of Aderant.”
  7. Avoid Misrepresentation: Do not use the trademark in a way that implies endorsement, affiliation, or sponsorship without proper authorization.
  8. Legal Consultation: When in doubt about the appropriate use of any of Aderant’s trademarks, please contact Aderant Marketing.
